Are You A Dreamer? - Madison Demos (2003-2004)

In 2003 and 2004, I sat at the desk in the room off my bedroom in Madison, WI and wrote the majority of the album “Are You a Dreamer?” I recorded demo after demo after demo there. While cleaning off an old computer last week, I stumbled across a folder with these demos and spent the afternoon listening and reminiscing. That night, I decided that 16 years later (!!!), it's time for you to hear them. A handful of these songs never made the final album and have never been released. Some of them are works-in-progress songs that, in altered form, ended up on the final album. Other demos feel similar to the final recordings. The songs were recorded live and simple arrangement ideas were added quickly. Some have different lyrics and others have lyrics that surfaced later in other songs. Retrospectively, I cringe at some of the placeholder ideas and rejoice in others.

Bandcamp is waiving their revenue share today (Friday, Sept. 5) and passing 100% of proceeds to artists. I have decided to use this limited release of Are You a Dreamer - Madison Demos as a fundraiser for my next project. Generously, the same person who matched your donation in October 2018 (which helped me make American Foursquare) has offered to do it again. Every purchase of the Are You a Dreamer Madison Demos will again be matched, up to $5,000. All the money goes toward making new music.

This album will be available for just this weekend, though today has the most financial impact on fundraising due to Bandcamp's fee waiver.

10% all sales will go to BlackMamasMatter.org

Thank you for supporting my efforts to keep writing and recording music. I take nothing for granted.
